If you check your bags make sure you have a copy of your name, address, and emergency phone number inside your bags.  You may also want to take a photo of your bags and of the first page of your passport and e mail it to yourself.  In the event that either your bags or passport get  lost, you can then access the photo and first page of your passport on your e mail from anywhere.
